Dear Big Sky School District Community,

Greetings from the Superintendent’s office!

As we head into February, keep in mind we have rapidly changing weather conditions. The students will have outside recess unless the temperature drops below 0 degrees. Make sure they have all the warm gear they need to get outside.

The extremely cold weather earlier this week served as a reminder that we have some extreme temperatures here in Big Sky. On Monday, the busses did run as the temperature was -26 when the driver got to the transportation facility, that is 6 degrees below our policy. As a reminder of our policies, we will not run busses if the temperature is -20 at the facility at 7 a.m. and we will not have school when the temperature is -40. We will be more accurately measuring the temperature as winter closes out and will strictly stick to the temperatures mentioned above. Hopefully we will not have such cold temperatures for the remainder of the year.

We are also finishing our second week of skiing for our 4k-12 students and so far, all reports are great and the kids are having a wonderful time enjoying the snow.

Thanks for letting us work with your children.
