Change in Plans: Any change in bus or pick up routine will need to be communicated to the school in writing the morning of the change or sooner.
Attendance: Please call the school 406-995-4281 or email administration@bssd72.org for 6-12 or lnell@bssd72.org for K-5 to report a student’s absence or tardiness. Students in grades 6-12 who will be absent more than 1 full day for a planned absence, should fill out and turn in an Advanced Absence form before leaving for their planned absence.
Lunch: Lunch is available for students to purchase each day.
K-5th $3.40, 6th-8th $3.85, High School $3.85 & Adults $4.10.
Other a la carte items may be offered throughout the year. Students will be issued a 4 digit lunch pin # at the beginning of the school year. Make deposits to your family lunch account at either office or online at BSSD72.org/Payments. Make checks payable to the Big Sky School District. Parents are welcome to join your student for lunch which can be arranged by calling either the elementary or middle school office by 9:00 am on the day you would like to have lunch.
The Big Sky School District utilizes the National Free/Reduced lunch program. You may fill out an application at any time during the school year, and if you qualify, the free or reduced (40 cents) lunch price will start on the day you turn in the application.

School Newsletter: The school newsletter will be sent home via email each Friday. If you do not have email access, a printed version will be sent home with the youngest child in the family (unless specified otherwise). The Friday Newsletter is also available online at bssd72.org and through the BSSD Facebook Page.
HE Programs: The Big Sky School District has some unique health enhancement programs including downhill skiing, cross country skiing, and swim lessons. Any forms or information regarding these programs will be included with the school newsletter and on the website bssd72.org.
Extreme Cold Weather Conditions: The school buses will not run but school will still be in session when the weather is –20 degrees or colder at the school. School will not be in session if the weather is –40 degrees or colder at the school. Students will go outside for recess if temperature at the school is zero and above. You should receive an email in the mornings when the buses do not run or school is closed. This information will also be posted on this website and the school’s Facebook page when the buses are not running or school is closed.
Title 1: We are a Title 1 school. Parents may request information regarding the professional qualifications of your student’s teacher by contacting Superintendent Dustin Shipman.
